Happy Birthday Shawn!

Last weekend, most of Shawn's family came out to Utah for the Floyd and Fanny Patten family reunion on the 4th, which happens to be Shawn's birthday.

We started the fun out on Friday by going to Thanksgiving Point and seeing the dinosaur museum with Shawn's brother Cory's family. It was a lot of fun and we learned some pretty cool stuff!

Later that night, the boys (Cory, Shawn, Jimmy and Kristal's soon to be brother-in-law) journeyed up to the great place of Evenston Wyoming to purchase a plethera of fireworks. We had an awesome 4th celebration and Shawn got to do what he loves best on his birthday: blow up things. We went to Provo for the reunion, then to Grandpa Patten's for the birthday/4th of July extravaganza. They flooded the back yard with irrigation water and had a blast; literally. Shawn and Cory put on quite the show! Half way through, we sang Happy Birthday to Shawn and ate some birthday cake.

It was great to see his family. I'm so happy to soon be part of the Patten clan.

She said yes!

Today I asked Kim to marry me. She said yes! I know, hard to believe, but it's true. We are gonna be married on September 4th, 2009. We have a lot of planning to do. Kim and I both had the day off today so I came over to her house and she made belgian waffles. After breakfast I blindfolded her and led her into her parents backyard where I had dropped rose petals all over the ground. I sat her in a chair and took her blindfold off. She looked pretty confused. I asked her to marry me. To my delight she said yes. Then we went to the water slides in Salt Lake. We had a lot of fun even though I hit my head really hard on one of the slides. I was pretty loopy. Kim and I are happier than ever and are excitedly awaiting are wedding day. -Shawn
